Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past few days, you can’t have failed to notice that Bath in Fashion is about to start. This five day event (running from 23 – 27 March) will celebrate all things stylish in our sister city. To kick of the proceedings, our pals at Bath in Fashion have shared a video of the street stylistas in their city explaining what makes the city so special. Controversially, one bloke in the clip claims it’s more trendy than Bristol. On yer bike, Bath!
London, New York, Paris, Milan…….Bath?
With its grand Georgian architecture and stunning surroundings, it’s easy for us to view Bath as a sophisticated place to be. But, did you also know that in Jane Austen times, Bath was seen as THE place to be for fashion and style?
Austen used Bath as the setting for both Persuasion and Northanger Abbey, both of which depict Bath as the most socially important place to see and be seen. One couldn’t possibly leave the house without looking one’s best – which is a great historical testament to the evolution of street style!
Fast forward two hundred years to 2011 and Bath is seeking to reclaim that fashion crown.
Now in its second year running, Bath in Fashion will be a five-day event spectacular to celebrate Bath Fashion Week (23-27th March). Highlights include a chance to see modern 21st Century fashion paraded on historical pavements at the headline fashion show at the Roman Baths on 24th March. Spring and summer collections by many of Bath’s favourite high street names will take the floor in the Octagon at Milsom Place on 23rd March and for the more urban fashionistas, we recommend you head to SouthGate on 25th March where models will strut their stuff to music provided by Moles.
For the up and coming designers-to-be, Professor Julian Roberts will be holding a Subtraction Cutting Master Class on 26th March.
On the 24th March, super-stylist Rebekah Roy will be joining forces with London Fashion Week producer John Walford to discuss the ins-and-outs of working behind the scenes of top international fashion shows.
We’ll be covering a number of the events, as well hitting the streets for a Glam Spy sesh. So stay tuned for the latest news and gossip surrounding the event and visit www.bathinfashion.co.uk for further details of events plus tickets, times and locations.
