Dress to impress

7th April 2011

Shorties beware – maxi dresses are back this Summer! Wear them with 70s style wedge heels to elongate your form and don’t be afraid to add a belt if you want to cinch in your waist and avoid the potato sack look. This navy and white striped maxi was last seen on the catwalk at Jil Sander (top left), but if your purse is more high street than high fashion, you can pick up this copycat number at Primark (top right) for just £23.

Too short for a maxi? Why not try this season’s mid-length options instead (also from Primark)  in a range of summery hues.

Bristol Fashion Weekender

2nd April 2011

We’re down at Cabot Circus today for the Ultimate Fashion Weekender, where all the stores are getting together to put on a series of catwalk shows over Saturday and Sunday.

We’ve just returned from the 12.30 show, which showcased items from Warehouse, Dorothy Perkins, New Look, LK Bennet, Guess, River Island, G Star and French Connection – all worn by a selection of gorgeous looking models (who also did a bit of dancing!)

We were treated to a series of looks from this season, all of which are available to buy at Cabot Circus. My personal faves were Denim Duty, think lots of denim hotpants teamed with soft, baggy tops, and of course, double denim! Not a look I’ll be trying, but for the braver street stylistas here today, head on down to Warehouse where they will kit you up accordingly. Another amazing look was by LK Bennett and aptly named ‘Latte with Cream’; gorgeous, sumptuous, slinky fabrics, tailored trousers, all in a neutral pallet, paired with minimal accessories and loafer platforms.

If you haven’t got the budget to buy all these looks then take a look at our hot list for the hottest items on the catwalk:

Bristol Fashionista’s Fashion Hotlist from the Ultimate Fashion Weekender

1. Chiffon Shirts (Warehouse do a gorgeous bird print)

2. Loafer heels (head to French Connection for their nude ones seen on the catwalk)

3. Denim hot pants

4. Tailored trousers

5. Coral coloured nail polish
